Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, and New York University have announced they are collaborating to create a psychedelics curriculum for psychiatrists. A $1 million grant will fund researchers at the three schools over the next two years to develop a curriculum for psychiatrists and create educational materials for other medical professionals.
The program aims to adequately train medical professionals in psychedelic therapy to increase patient access to these therapies. Pending approval from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, psychiatrists can specialize in psychedelic psychiatry, like child psychiatry or forensic psychiatry. Funding has come from philanthropic donations from The Heffter Research Institute, Tim Ferriss, Bill Linton, Michael and Lisa Cotton, and the Evolve Foundation.
