10% of revenue gets donated to StrongMinds – Helping treat depression at scale in Africa
At the end of each year, Blossom will donate 10% of the membership revenue to StrongMinds.
StrongMinds is a nonprofit organization dedicated to treating depression at scale in Africa. Founded in 2013, the organization’s mission is to provide affordable and evidence-based mental health services to African women who are struggling with depression, which is a leading cause of disability worldwide.
Through its innovative group talk therapy program, StrongMinds has already reached over 100,000 women in Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi, and plans to expand to other countries soon. The program consists of 12 weekly sessions, during which trained facilitators lead groups of 12-15 women through a structured program that helps them identify and address the root causes of their depression.
One of the critical features of StrongMinds’ program is its focus on scalability. By training local facilitators and using a group-based approach, the organization is able to provide affordable and effective mental health care to a large number of people. In addition, StrongMinds’ approach is culturally sensitive, recognizing that mental health challenges may be perceived differently in different contexts.
Overall, StrongMinds is significantly impacting the fight against depression in Africa. Its innovative approach holds promise for addressing other mental health challenges in the region and beyond.
