‘It’s not medical’: Oregon wrestles with how to offer psychedelics outside the health care system

This article discusses the latest happenings in Oregon, the first state in the U.S. to legally approve the use of psilocybin mushrooms. Specifically, the authors discuss the interpretation of Ballot Measure 109 by lawmakers and regulators in the state which doesn’t necessarily mean psychedelics are confined to the medical context but is instead being interpreted that way. At present, people in Oregon will not need to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder to seek treatment with psychedelics.
