October brought us 26 novel publications on psychedelics as medicine. Several studies explored the effects of low doses of LSD, others investigated the positive outcomes of ketamine, whilst some dove into the outcomes of MDMA. Some of the papers published describe interesting experiments and surveys, although many are reviews.
To better understand the science of psychedelics, and how we can make the bridge to implementing them in practice, Blossom is conducting a series of interviews with psychedelic scientists. Our editor-at-large, George Fejer, speaks to Dr. Jay McLaughlin, Professor of Pharmacodynamics at the University of Florida, and one of the leading experts on kratom.
In order to realize the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, meticulous evidence-based research is needed. From a select few researchers working with psychedelics in the 2000s, a plethora of research groups dedicated to harnessing the potential of psychedelics has emerged across the globe. The work of these groups is paving the way toward a future where psychedelic-assisted therapies are viable treatment options.
