Magic mushrooms to soothe the dying

After pioneering research at Imperial College London, now some 30 participants at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne are to get a 25mg dose of psilocybin. The focus of this study is on existential depression and anxiety. Which also builds on earlier work at Johns Hopkins with patients with life-threatening illnesses.

Psychedelic Research In Science and Medicine (PRISM) is a non-profit in Australia that is pushing for more research and possibly legalization later on.

The article gives some more overview of the state of research and ends with this note “About a decade late as usual, it looks like Australia is finally starting to get with the times.”
