Researchers at the University of Alabama are investigating the potential use of psychedelics in a number of disorders. While there is yet to be an official department dedicated to psychedelic research, Professor Peter Hendricks and his team are carrying out two clinical trials with psilocybin. One trial is investigating psilocybin therapy for cocaine use, while the other is focusing on its potential role in treating chronic pain.
