David John Nutt is a great advocate for looking at drugs and their harm objectively and scientifically. This got him dismissed as ACMD (Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs) chairman.

He subsequently wrote the book Drugs Without the Hot Air, a treaty on rational drug policy/information. He has also founded the informational website and policy group Drug Science.
David J. Nutt has also worked together with Robin Carhart-Harris and other researchers on work funded in part by Amanda Feilding and the Beckley Foundation. This work included scanning the brains of people on LSD and psilocybin. He is currently a professor at Imperial College London (the Edmond J Safra Chair of Neuropsychopharmacology).
In 2020, he joined AWAKN Life Sciences as the chairman of the scientific advisory board. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of Compass Pathways. And a director at Alvarius. He also is a consultant for Algernon Pharmaceuticals.
David’s interests go beyond psychedelics as he has also written a book about the science (and dangers) of alcohol; Drink?: The New Science of Alcohol and Your Health.
His work in media and research has made him one of the key people in the psychedelics field.
