At present, all psychedelics remain illegal in Iceland for both medicinal and recreational purposes. However, there is support for and interest in the potential of psychedelic medicine in the country.
Psychedelics in Iceland Today
Despite a group of experts looking to the Icelandic Medicines Agency and the Minister of Health for permission to carry out research with psychedelics in Iceland, they are yet to have this permission granted.
In January 2023, the “Psychedelics in Medicine” conference is due to take place in Reykjavík. This conference aims to support and amplify the voice of researchers & other medical professionals pursuing education & research in psychedelic science. Speakers include Rick Doblin, Michael Pollan and Sergio Peres Rosal. The conference is being organized by Eden.
