The Alma Institute Facilitator Training Program is designed to provide the training required to become a licensed psilocybin facilitator under Oregon state law. Graduates of this program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to collaborate with licensed professionals in client screening and intake, provide preparation sessions, conduct psilocybin administration sessions with clients, support integration and follow-up care, and make appropriate referrals.
Upon completing Alma’s Core Training and Practicum, graduates will receive an official Psilocybin Facilitator Training Certificate, which allows them to apply for a facilitator license and take the Oregon Psilocybin Services Facilitator Exam, administered by Oregon Psilocybin Services. Those who pass the exam can then apply for a facilitator license. Once approved, they can facilitate administration sessions at licensed service centers operating under Measure 109, of the Psilocybin Services Act.
The training approach is grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care, and prioritizes peer- and small-group learning throughout. There is extensive opportunity for experiential learning through lab sessions and in-person training, with an interdisciplinary, holistic, and cross-cultural focus. The program also focuses on weaving connections and building relationships among the cohort to form a strong psychedelic ecosystem. The training will guide students to develop nine Core Abilities such as thinking critically about power, privilege, and intersecting systems of oppression, engaging responsibly with clients utilising embodied, trauma-informed ethical frameworks, cultivating cultural humility, mastering psychedelic science, providing trauma-informed care, screen and prepare clients competently, administer psilocybin safely and ethically, support psilocybin integration effectively, facilitate group psilocybin services safely and ethically.
The training program was stopped in 2024 as the team is now focussed on providing a licensed psilocybin service center (Cora Center).
